Lac le Jeune can be reached by taking the Lac Le Jeune Exit off
Hwy #5 (the Coquihalla) 37 kms south of Kamloops or 47 kms north
of Merritt. Follow signs for 5 km to Lac le Jeune Park.
At Lac le Jeune Park there are 144 campsites,
a large day-use area, a playground, an amphitheatre and a sani
station. The campsites can accommodate camping units from a tent
to a large recreational vehicle. Upon arrival during May, early
June and September, choose a site and staff will be around later
to collect camping fees and provide the option to purchase firewood
or ice. During late June, July and August the gatehouse will be
in operation. Here you can pay for your site, purchase firewood
or ice, and ask any questions you may have.
Unfortunately there are no power or water hookups at the sites.
You may also choose to reserve a campsite
ahead of time at discovercamping.ca or at 1-800-689-9025
The operating season, with services, is from May 15th to September 15th,
yet this may be extended slightly depending on weather conditions. The
cost is $19.00/night and $9.50/night for BC Seniors during the shoulder
season (following the day after Labour Day and prior to June 15th).
The gates at Lac le Jeune Provincial Park are closed in the fall when
snow impedes travel through the park, and open in the spring when snow
fully leaves the roadways. This date varies, however, you can generally
count on the gates being open on May 1st and closed by mid November.
What
is good to know:
The park offers a diverse assortment of recreational activities
including swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and nature
viewing. The campground serves as a base for recreational uses at
both Stake and Walloper Lakes. The park is an exceptional central
location for fishers as there are many first class trout fishing
lakes within close proximity.
The interpretive program is in full swing at Lac le Jeune Park.
The program will run from mid June to the end of August. Check the
board at the Park for daily schedules.
