Paul Lake Provincial Park

What you need to know :

From Hwy #5, five km north of Kamloops, take the paved Pinantan Road for 19 km to the campground, located on the north side of Paul Lake, just east of the giant bluff overlooking the lake. The Paul Lake group site is located at the west end of the lake. To reach it follow signs located approximately 13 km up the Pinantan Road, which, while ascending a long hill direct you to the right. Follow this road for 2.5 km to Paul Lake. The group site is located right of the road across from the lake. The Bluff picnic site is located, from the group site, approximately 2 km east along the south side of the lake at the end of the road.
This park offers 90 vehicle accessible campsites nestled amongst the trees on a first-come, first-served basis - campsite reservations are not accepted. Upon arrival, choose a site and staff will be around later to collect camping fees and provide the option to purchase firewood.
Unfortunately there are no power or water hookups at the sites.
Services at Paul Lake are offered from May 15 to September 15th, but may be extended because of good weather conditions. Only registered campers are allowed in the campground after 11:00pm and quiet time is between 10:00pm and 7:00am. The costs are $15.00/night and $7.50/night for BC Seniors during the shoulder season (following the day after Labour Day and prior to June 15th).
There is a group campsite consisting of a large grassy area, a hand pump and a picnic shelter surrounded by trees. Group Camping Fee is $15.00 per party/night and the Youth Group Camping Fee is $50.00 per group/night. The Group Picnicking Fee is $35.00 per group
The gates at Paul Lake Provincial Park are closed in the fall when snow impedes travel through the park, and open in the spring when snow fully leaves the roadways. This date varies, however, you can generally count on the gates being open on May 1st and closed by mid November.

Swimming at Paul Lake

What is good to know :
The park has over 7 km of hiking trails. The trails take you from the lakeshore or the campground up a gentle grade through a mature Douglas-fir forest to the summit of Gibralter Rock, 900 meters in elevation. The last portion of the trail (about 300 metres) is somewhat steep but there are rest stops along the way. Be aware of steep cliffs near the top of Gibraltar Rock trail. The summit gives spectacular views of the lake and Harper Mountain, as well as a bird’s eye view of ospreys, swallows and the rare white-throated swift. into Paul Lake annually.
